It is unfortunate the guarantee of a Fair Convention should even be a topic of discussion. One would hope those involved in the GOP, especially in Texas, would work to maintain fairness, encourage debate, and grow the party to keep it strong in the face of the challenges facing us. Unfortunately this has not been the case, and all manner of rule violations and irregularities have been reported this convention cycle. These matters are themselves now a fundamental issue before us at the State Convention, and all delegates owe it to the Republicans they represent to understand these issues and seek a fair resolution. The alternative of sweeping these matters under the rug and maintaining the status quo will only weaken us and our claim to be the party of law, accountability, and personal responsibilty.

  • Timeline & Current Status -- A summary of the events so far.

  • Nueces Convention Audio -- The Nueces County Convention presented one of the most extreme examples of rule violations, delegate abuse, and outright fraud yet reported. Every RPT State Delegate needs to understand what happened here and plan to vote to defend the rule of law and the express will of the Republican voters of Nueces County.

  • Credentials Challenges -- These reported rule violations have resulted in dozens of challenges being filed, against hundreds of delegates. Offenses cited range from the extreme to the mundane, but all exhibit a widespread disregard by party leadership for both the letter and the spirit of the law and party rules. RPT Rule 27 provides guidelines for filing a challenge and requires "detailing the specific rule or rules alleged to have been violated." Rule 11, 33b, and 35 also apply.
